What Brings Me Joy?

My first project of the year was to create three pieces of something that brings me joy. Obviously, sailboats bring me joy, they are just so beautiful! I did these with color pencils. The one thing I had problem with was blending the colors, I just couldn't get it. After the first one, I got into it. I now know how to blend pretty well!

Cup Of Water Project

Now this is a start on my second project of the year. Of course, this is just a practice to get me started. It is of a paint brush in a glass of water that I lit. I just painted my page black with ink and used white pastel to draw. The last picture was when I wasn't quite finished, the below is the finished product. I think I am getting the concept a bit. I should be starting the real piece on canvas (using oil paint) tomorrow during one of my off mods.

My Family

My family consists of my dad, mom, my brother, Henry, and my dog, Maggie. You could call our family different because we are always together, constantly. The one place we are always together is our 30 foot Sea Ray Sundancer, Wit's End. That is the gathering place of my family. I bet if it was not for the boat, we wouldn't be as close as we are!

The Bastas
There is a family whose name ryhmes with pasta,
Why yes, it is Basta,
Always traveling around in a pack,
But happiness they do not lack,
Even when the kids' ages increase,
The four being together never cease,
From the boat to Ocean City,
They are one of a kind, what a pity!

Beginning of Charlie

The bottom picture is the start of Charlie Chaplin from the movie, The Kid. The one on the top is the finished product. I absolutely love his movies. Although they are silent they are outstanding and hilarious!
Well, anyway, I did this in my sketchbook in regular pencil. It was pretty fun to finish. I find it more enjoyable when I draw things that I am interested in! (but I have to keep an open mind)

My Honors Studio 2010 -2011 Sketchbook

Isn't it amazing what some looseleaf paper, duck-tape, glue, and sharpy (+ some creativity) can do to a book!:)

Important Places For Me

These are some pictures I took the other day at my yacht club. My yacht club is basically an island and my favorite place to go there is not the clubhouse, or pool, or the TV room. No. My favorite place to go at my yacht club is the point! Although, those other places are pretty awesome, they just have no beauty. Just sitting on the point for an hour, you will see enough beauty to last you a lifetime!! =]
