Portraits

So it's back to school time... Well anyway, these are a few little portraits of me. I just looked at myself in the mirror with a light shining on me for dramatic shadows and I made odd faces to practice. I did this with pencil in my sketchbook probably around March.

Here is another portrait. I kind of made this guy up though, I used facial features of all my favorite actors and put them together. It was a fun little project, haha. I drew this around February during the snow storm. I also drew this with pencil in my sketchbook.

Out of everything I draw, I love drawing portraits of people. This one here is of Zachary Quinto, who is my favorite actor. I just did this one last March in my sketchbook using pencil.
The one thing I had the hardest problem with was with his eyes and his 5 o'clock shadow. It all worked out though. I think I could have drawn him better though, but I am still proud of this one.

A fun doodle

I have been watching a lot of Charlie Chaplin movies lately - yes, I am a bit obsessed at the moment. Anyway, my brother is a very good film maker as well and the funny thing is that he was born on the same day and a hundred years after Charlie.
So this is my brother in Charlie Chaplin's clothes and makeup and such. I did this in my sketchbook with pencil.

Summer is just flying by...

Sadly to say that I have only done one real piece this summer. It is of the Craighill Channel Lower Rear in Maryland. My family and I passed this beautiful lighthouse on our way to Annapolis. I did this with water based Oil Paint. I really liked the way it turned out! It looks as though the light is just shining out of the tower.

Super Fresh Love

Aside from drawing and painting, I love to make animations. My very first one is called Super Fresh Love. I made it for the band, Sharpened Crayons' song called "Super Fresh Love". I have a tablet computer so I drew each individual frame in the program "Paint". It took a long time, but it was worth it. Super Fresh Love has won so many awards from Film Festivals so far such as: The Friends Film Festival, John Carroll Film Festival, Princeton Film Festival, and The Burke Film Festival. You should really check it out!

Sharpened Crayons is a band of two people - my brother, Henry and his friend, Jay. My brother is into making films, so Henry is in charge of making the music videos and Jay is the music guy. Talk about a great team! Their songs are catchy and funny as well. If you are interested in hearing more, check them out on facebook:

The John Carroll Art Show 2010

This is me at the John Carroll Art Show with my work I made this year. I won Honorable Mention.
It was pretty exciting! I couldn't believe I won Honorable Mention because it was my first time ever taking an art class.
